Previous Events
26th May 2010
The May meeting took place in the Maltby Suite of the Sporting Lodge in Middlesbrough.
Anne Pink of newhorizonscc.co.uk had this comment to make regarding the Guest speaker District Commander Karen Ravenscroft.
Karen's talk was very thought provoking and her reference to people skills and 'family life balance' will have resonated with most of us.
Also as a 'Cleveland council tax payer I was pleasantly surprised by this 'human face' of the Police.
21st April 2010
This event took place at the Blackwell Grange Hotel in Darlington
Creative Planning
As another budget has been delivered, and the country awaits the announcement of an election date, change is in the air. While politicians make plans for how to spend the taxes they collect, business people make plans for their businesses to keep earning revenue which will, ultimately, fulfil government plans.
Appropriately, our next event is designed to look at the future for each of you. We are going to take a creative look at:
- how you want your future to be
- how you might take the first few steps towards that goal
The process works for business, career, or anything else for which you would like to have a vision. If nothing else, it should be fun, and you just might come away with a different perspective and a few new ideas!
The event will be facilitated by Jeannette Roddy, a business coach and counsellor. Jeanette has worked in strategic planning with large and small organisations and likes the concept of keeping plans simple and straight forward.
The morning will start with a networking game to break the ice. After the game...the presentation.
After the presentation you will then have the opportunity for further networking.

ASSIST Christmas Lunch
A chance for members to unwind and relax for the run up to Christmas. Thanks to everyone that came to our Christmas lunch, it was a fantastic success and was enjoyed by everyone.
It's all About Enterprise! took place at The Parkmore Hotel in Eaglescliffe on the 18th November. As the 18th fell on Global Entrepreneurship Week the event was dedicated to enterprise and entrepreneurship.
The networking game was, quite simply, a mission - a mission to produce a list of top tips for Tees Valley business ladies to utilise in everyday business.
Top Tips for Business Ladies, click for details.
We then moved on to ASSIST ladies from very different business backgrounds speaking about issues relating to business.
Many thanks to the following ladies for their interesting, thought provoking, confidence boosting and funny talks:
Judith Middleton – Latimer Hinks Solicitors
Julie Craig – AFE Training
Sheila Wren – Butterfly Healing Spirit
Fe Foreman – Courage Consulting Ltd
Anne Pink – New Horizons Coaching & Consultancy
14th October 2009
The previous ASSIST event was all about you and your wardrobe!
The morning started with a networking game to break the ice.
A presentation by ASSIST member Judy Ward of House of Colour followed entitled Looking and Feeling Good!
Judy explained how by choosing the correct colour, shape and style of your clothes you can compliment different lifestyles and personalities. Apparently discovering your "what to wear" colour and shape is not too difficult – I'm sure I'll find I've been wearing the wrong colour for years!
After the presentation there was the opportunity for further networking.
Judy's Comments:
The talk was about how I can help people find out how to look and feel good every single day.
Our unique skin tone and eye colour mean that some colours make us look great whilst others have the opposite effect. Body shape too means some styles work and others don't. And also personality means some clothes are just right whilst others are simply wrong. I would like to show your audience how discovering "what to wear" colour and shape is not hard and how with the right knowledge its easy to choose colours and styles to compliment our different lifestyles and personalities enabling each of us to project the image, mood and style we want thus creating the right impact to suit every occasion.
999!
The next ASSIST event took place at the Centre for Enterprise, Teesside University, Middlesbrough on Wednesday September 9th (9/9/09, hence the title!)
The morning started with a networking game “2 Truths and a Lie” to break the ice.
A guest presentation followed– Barry Hebbron, Senior Lecturer at the School of Computing, provided an informative and entertaining talk on making our websites work for us and search engine optimization. It seems the answer lies in the stars or at least on board the Starship Enterprise
1st July 2009
The second ASSIST event took place at the Thistle Hotel, Middlesbrough on Wednesday July 1st @ 8:45am for 9.15am. Our thanks to Carrie Wilson and her team for their hospitality.
The morning started with a speed networking game to break the ice. Networking Noise might have been a better description and it got harder and harder to break away and move on.
A member presentation followed - Fiona Carter of CMF Solutions kindly provided an interactive-presentation on “Time Management for Those who Don't Have Time to Attend a Time Mangement Course” – we figured we all need advice in this area, how DO we make more time?! Fiona gave us an idea or two and we especially liked the idea of abolishing Mondays and having a 3 day weekend!
